Master in Mechatronics Engineering • March 2024
This masters was a result of a dual degree program with a UK University where extra modules needed to be done to qualify. This was done alongside my bachelors for the reason being the UK's minimum qualification for a graduate Engineer being a masters degree holder.
B.Eng (Hons) in Mechatronics Engineering • March 2024
The best time of my life, based in Kuala Lumpur, this place have develop my character by exposing me to many people with various cultures and mindsets, where I made connections with smart people around the world. Final Year Project - Sign Language translator using machine learning and machine vision in android devices.
Repair Technician • December 2021 - April 2022
A telecommunication company known for its maintenance service for High- rise buildings specializing in MATV, CCTV, Fiber Optic & ELV systems. Achievements/tasks: Power supply, amplifiers and miscellaneous electric devices service and repair. Mentoring junior technicians. Development of expert soldering skills and stock management.
Many skills were collected along my journey. I do tend to have many interests and hobbies. Some of my notable skills include the following.
An autonomous vehicle capable of mapping its surroundings and navigating while avoiding obstacles. Localization is achieved using an onboard IMU, encoders, and LIDAR. By leveraging the ROS 2 and Nav2 stacks, along with serial and I2C communication, the robot is powered by a 12V battery, a Raspberry Pi, an Arduino, and motor drivers. Additional components, including a camera and lighting, have been integrated. The project is currently under development and actively updated on my LinkedIn profile.
Akerbot Autonomous vehicle, Dar es salaamrA UGV ment to aid palm plantations in fertilization while reducing man-power and dispensing Fertilizer in the most optimal locations. While this is a prototype that is non-autonomous that uses remote control, future versions would be able to do navigation and be autonomous. Powered by a ESP-32 micro-controller and a 12v battery the UGV have 4WD support with communications including LoRaWAN, GPS and bluetooth together with an onboard camera.
GDP project, Palm plantations, Kuala LumpurThis was a personal project where a self sustainable Hydroponics systems was created where mineral rich water is pumped based on the needs of the plants and at paced intervals together with real time monitoring. An arduino was used for this project together with sensors, relays, pumps and container setup. The plants yeilded included spinach, lettuce, mints which were enjoyed by me and friends.
Smart Hydroponics, Kuala LumpurAmong the many skills I acquired during my internship was the ability to repair any electronic device. This was only possible because of my mentors mindset that anything is repairable. At this place I had acess to 100s of electronic devices such as TVs, keyboards, mice, ventilators etc, and my job was to repair them. Along with the normal repairs I had to repair power supplies and amplifiers that were used in bulk by the company.
L S Ang Communications, Kuala LumpurCustom remote controller was made implementing nrf24l01 communications. Along with controller a gripper arm was experimented with and various other learning projects were done for the sake of learning.
APU campusThis application was made for my FYP project where the aim was to provide a real-time sighn language translation capability on a portable device in this case an android device. The first step was data collection which was recorded in house with the signors being me and a friend. Then the data cleaning and filtering step, then the model training and adjusting, then again retraining. The best model that was picked was based on LSTM-CNN neural network. Then there was the app development part and integration part. Overall this project took me a year to finish, where I learnt how difficult it can be to take on huge projects like this.
Android appThis was a group project, where a Hospital enviroment was taken and upgraded into a Smart hospital by using IOT and Robotics technologies such as a central app for patient to control the lights, temperature, as well as call the doctor and monitor the health metrics of the patient. This was done by embedding sensors into patients and the environment, broadcasting the readings into a secure server for monitoring and analysis, having the power electronics linked to the network.
APU, Kuala LumpurI leveraged AWS Cloud Services to enhance robotics applications by implementing scalable and secure cloud-based solutions. By utilizing AWS IoT Core, I connected various robotic devices to the cloud, enabling real-time data collection and analysis. This integration facilitated the deployment of machine learning models through AWS SageMaker, which improved the robots' decision-making capabilities. Additionally, using AWS RoboMaker, I developed, tested, and deployed intelligent robotics applications in a simulated environment, which accelerated development cycles. AWS Lambda for serverless computing allowed for efficient processing of data streams and execution of code in response to specific events. Through these services, I successfully optimized the performance and functionality of the robotics systems, ensuring robust and innovative solutions for complex automation tasks.
